Ferrari 458 or Lamborghini Urus S: which should you rent?

Updated: July 17, 2026

Short answer

Rent the Lamborghini Urus S ($1,199/day) if you want to seat five, pack luggage, and drive all day in comfort. Rent the Ferrari 458 Liberty Walk ($1,499/day) for a raw two-seat thrill and a 9,000 rpm V8. Your trip decides this, not the badge.

Pick the car that matches your day, not the one with the flashier name. The Lamborghini Urus S rents for $1,199 a day and works like a fast SUV: five seats, real luggage room, all-wheel drive, and a cabin you can sit in for hours. The Ferrari 458 Liberty Walk rents for $1,499 a day and gives you the opposite: two seats, a screaming naturally aspirated V8, and a widebody shape that turns every parking lot into a show. Both are quick. They just quick you in different ways. (Confirm the latest daily price when you book, since rates can change.)

What is the price and seat-count difference?

The Urus S costs $300 less per day and carries three more people. At Grant Motor Group the Urus S is $1,199 a day and the Ferrari 458 Liberty Walk is $1,499 a day. That gap matters most on a multi-day booking, where the daily difference stacks up.

Seats are the bigger split. The Urus S is a five-door SUV. It seats five, holds an 85-liter (22.5-gallon) fuel tank, and swallows suitcases, golf bags, and a cooler. It was Lamborghini's first five-door car and its first SUV since the LM002, and it became the brand's best-selling model in the shortest time of any Lamborghini before it. That kind of reach tells you who it is built for: people who want the badge and the space at the same time.

The Ferrari 458 is a strict two-seater. There is room for you, one passenger, and not much else. The trunk is a small front cubby. If your plan involves more than two people or a weekend of bags, the 458 makes the choice for you before you even start the engine.

Why rent the Ferrari 458?

Rent the 458 when the drive itself is the point. Its 4.5-liter V8 makes 562 horsepower and revs to a 9,000 rpm redline. Motor Authority noted the engine "reaches a maximum of 9,000 rpm, a first for a production V-8." That same engine won Best Performance Engine and Best Engine Above 4 Litres at the 2011 International Engine of the Year Awards. It hits 0 to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds and tops out over 202 mph, per Ferrari's own figures.

The bigger reason to want one now is what it represents in Ferrari's timeline. The 458 Italia was the last naturally aspirated V8 Ferrari before the twin-turbo 488 GTB arrived in 2015. No turbos means the power builds all the way to that 9,000 rpm ceiling, and the sound is the reward. It was also the first mainstream Ferrari sold only with a paddle-shift gearbox, a 7-speed dual-clutch, so there is no manual to learn. You pull a paddle and go.

Our 458 wears a Liberty Walk widebody kit, and that changes the whole look. Liberty Walk is the work of self-taught Japanese builder Wataru Kato, whose signature move is to cut into the stock bodywork and bolt on riveted, box-flared over-fenders. The kit hangs noticeably wider fenders over the standard body and drops the car onto air suspension so it sits low. It is a car people stop and photograph. If you are booking for a photoshoot, a proposal, or a car-forward event, the 458 earns its extra $300 a day on looks alone.

The trade-off is livability. Two seats, a low nose (though the Air Lift suspension can raise it for steep driveways), and a firm ride. On a hot Scottsdale afternoon the 458 is a special-occasion car, not an all-day errand runner.

Why rent the Lamborghini Urus S?

Rent the Urus S when you want supercar speed you can use every day. Its 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 makes 657 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque, and that torque comes on across a wide 2,300 to 4,500 rpm band, per Lamborghini's spec sheet and UltimateSpecs. That flat torque curve is why the Urus feels effortless in traffic. You do not have to chase high revs to move. The result is 0 to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds and a 190 mph top speed, only a tenth slower to 62 than the Ferrari despite weighing 4,844 pounds.

The Urus S got a bump when it replaced the original Urus, gaining 16 horsepower to match the track-focused Urus Performante, as Carscoops reported. It sends power through an 8-speed automatic and permanent all-wheel drive with active rear torque vectoring. All-wheel drive is a real advantage here. Arizona's monsoon season runs June 15 through September 30, and sudden rain can flood a road in minutes. A tall AWD SUV handles a wet surface with far more margin than a low, rear-drive Ferrari.

Comfort is the other win. The Urus rides on the Volkswagen Group MLB Evo platform, shared with the Audi Q7, Bentley Bentayga, and Porsche Cayenne, so under the drama it has genuine luxury-SUV bones. You sit up high, the seats are supportive over long stretches, and the air conditioning fights Phoenix heat with ease. Phoenix has hit 110 degrees on dozens of days in a single summer, and a cabin you actually want to sit in matters when it is that hot outside.

Choose the Ferrari 458 if you are driving solo or as a pair, want the loudest engine and the most dramatic look, and your trip centers on a single big moment. A sunrise run up to Sedona on State Route 179, a photoshoot in Old Town, or a birthday where the car is the gift all point to the 458.

Choose the Urus S if you are moving a group, hauling gear, driving several days in a row, or renting during monsoon or peak heat. A bachelor weekend, a family visit, airport-to-resort runs, or a golf trip during the WM Phoenix Open all point to the Urus. It is the car that does everything and still turns heads in the valet line.

The 458 is the car people reserve when the trip has one big moment at its center, and it is the one that stops strangers in a parking lot. First-timers sometimes assume the Ferrari is the obvious winner, then relax the second they realize the Urus is the easier car to spend a whole day in.

Two things apply to both. First, both need premium fuel and should come back at the level you got them, since high-compression and turbocharged engines can knock on low-octane gas. Second, the minimum age is 25 (or 21 with prior approval), and you will need a clean record and your own full-coverage insurance in your name. A refundable security hold is required before pickup, and the amount varies by car and is confirmed at booking; a credit card is the best way to carry it, so confirm card options when you book. Those hold amounts and any mileage allowance are common industry figures that range widely, not GMG's published numbers, so ask us for your exact car's figure. Delivery of either one is available anywhere in Scottsdale, including your hotel, resort, or Scottsdale Airport; a delivery fee applies and is confirmed at booking.

Still torn? If you can only bring one other person and you want the drive to be the memory, take the 458. If you have people, bags, or several days ahead of you, take the Urus S. Reach the team at (623) 400-3031 by call or text, or DM @grantmotorgroup on Instagram.
